We are a small family farm nestled in the hills of Takahue New Zealand. At the moment there are 7 adults and 2 (soon to be 3) children residing on the land.

We steward 250 acres and most of the land is in bush with about 40 acres in paddocks, horticulture and living space. As we mentioned in the history we have many animals including horses, cows, sheep, chooks, pigs and bees along with all the other wild animals that we share the land with.

At Ipuwai farm we strive to use biodynamic and permaculture techniques in our gardening and care for animals. We belong to the Biodynamic society of New Zealand and source all of our preparations from them. In the garden and orchards we follow the biodynamic calendar for planting, transplanting,  applications of preparations and remedies, pruning and harvesting. We are new to this and continue to remain humble in our learning process.

We have moved through the observation phase and are now planning for more sustainable buildings, selective felling of trees for timber, extensive food forests planting, subtropical orchards and alley cropping with berries and nuts.

Our greatest challenge at the moment is to exclusively utilize whats available on this land for carbon and plant nutrients. We are ultimately working towards a self sufficient lifestyle with minimum impact on the world around us. Our dream is to bring healthy nutrient dense foods and products to the greater community near and far.
